Sony introduced its new 10.3-megapixel digital camera today. The Cyber-shot DSC-R1 is Sony's first product to include the company's CMOS sensors.

Sony says that the Cyber-shot R1 is the world's first integrated lens digital still camera to combine a professional-grade, 10.3-megapixel image sensor and the flexibility of live preview while shooting.

"The R1 represents a breakthrough in digital camera technology and construction," said Sony Electronics director of digital imaging products, James Neal.

"You can grab this camera and go, confident that you will be prepared for a wide range of shooting situations," added Neal. "Its many convenience features and exceptional performance can not easily be matched with a typical consumer-level digital SLR."

The camera will be available sometime in the middle of November and will retail at $999.95. Sony began taking pre-orders today.
