In a slightly muted response to the Sony PSP United States launch, Nintendo released two more versions of their Nintendo DS portable gaming system for the Japanese market.
According to endgadget.com, The only difference between the current DS and the new ones launched yesterday are the color scheme of the device, which now includes black and white to go along with the original silver DS.
Many have wondered whether or not Nintendo's line of portable gaming systems would be able to withstand the Sony PSP. Of course, this speculation was fueled by comments from PSP developers who said their product would bring the industry out of the portable gaming ghetto, a less-than-slight jab at Nintendo.
With their latest variation to the DS, one wonders if all Nintendo is planning on doing more than giving users more options for DS color schemes. Of course, given the fact that the DS was released during the 2004 holiday season, Nintendo's options, besides a complete overhaul, are limited.
